We combine rigorous public complaint tracking with independent storytelling so Nevada families can see how power is exercised in health and human services—and demand better when systems fail them.
Why this work exists—and what is at stake for Nevadans.
Nevada consistently ranks at the bottom of the nation—51st in critical healthcare measures. We believe this isn't due to a lack of effort from our frontline providers, but rather systemic failures in leadership at the highest levels.
For too long, backroom deals, favoritism, and unchecked conflicts of interest have stood in the way of the quality care Nevadans deserve. We are here to shine a light on the shadows.
How we operate—and what we are not.
Our mission is to uphold accountability through storytelling grounded in integrity, honesty, and transparency. We operate as an independent journalistic and advocacy platform, not as a government agency or regulatory body.
We exist to expose misuse of power within state agencies, protect whistleblowers who come forward in the public interest, and advocate for reforms that place public wellness and ethical governance first.
To preserve independence and protect against political pressure or special interest influence, the identities of our Public Oversight Committee members are not publicly disclosed. This structure safeguards those who serve in this role and ensures decisions remain focused on accountability and community trust. Members who choose to share their involvement may do so at their own discretion.
Our committee operates under strict ethical standards to protect the community, support responsible governance, and reinforce transparency in every action we take.
Principles that guide every investigation, publication, and public stance we take.
We act with consistency between our words and actions. Every decision, investigation, and publication follows clear ethical standards.
We commit to truth in reporting and representation. We do not distort facts, protect misconduct, or shape narratives to serve power.
We operate openly about our purpose, process, and standards while protecting sensitive sources and individuals when required.
We hold systems, leaders, and institutions responsible for their actions, especially when public trust or public health is at risk.
We stand with those who speak out, even when doing so carries personal or professional risk, and we do not retreat under pressure.
